Stampbook Saturday: First Christmas!

Hello everyone, it's Kelly here with my first official post as a Trendsetter for this fabulous team! I am here today with a scrapbook page of my daughter's first Christmas. Scrapbooking is where I got my start in this amazing craft and over the years I have made a baby book and scrapbook of the first five years for each of my four girls. That was my intention, anyway!! I got distracted by stamping cards instead and as a result, this is the first page I have made for my fourth daughter! (She's three now!!)

The good news is that I discovered how great scrapbook pages look when stamped images are added. Today's page combines HoHoHo with my kids' photos for a fun Christmas look.

I love the whimsical touch the stamped images add to this page. In the past, I would use stickers and die-cuts to decorate the page. I added the Santa and one reindeer to the text panel, making that reindeer Rudolph, of course!

For the bottom image, I used the two reindeer images and used the masking technique to create a line of reindeer waiting to pull the sled! Here is a closeup of that:

I also stamped some snowflakes wherever there was plain green cardstock to tie the whole page together.

The bad news is that I now have to go back to my older girls books and re-do their books using stamped images!!  Stampbooking is really like making a card that will last so much longer as a treasured memory. Try it yourself!!

ABC Friday with Kim O'Connell

Kim here bringing you this week's edition of ABC Friday!

In the real world, Halloween is still several weeks away, but in the crafty world, many of us have already moved beyond Halloween and have the Holidays on our brains.  If you do craft fairs or if you just want to make something cute to give to the all the little people who believe in the magic of Christmas, you will love what I have to show you today!

I made these cute Magic Reindeer Food test tubes!

I stamped the adorable reindeer from the Ho Ho Ho stamp set and colored them with copics.  I punched them out with a 1.5" circle punch and then layered them over over the 1 .75" scalloped circles.  I added some Diamond Glaze to their noses so they would shine.  I printed the poem from my computer.

You can find these test tubes HERE and the corks HERE.  My magic reindeer food is a mixture of oats and glitters.   I tied some some ribbon to the tops of the test tubes and attached the reindeer tags and poem with a piece of twine.

Super cute and easy peasy!

Trendsetting Spotlight on Kim Lackenbach

Hello There She Goes fans!! It is time for another There She Goes Trendsetting Spotlight, and this week, the spotlight has fallen on Kim Lackenbach!!

Kim has participated in our Mother of All Blog Hops, but it was her challenge entry for last week's sketch that caught my eye!! I found some SUPER cute cards on her blog while checking her out, so be sure to go and do that, too!!

I saw THIS gorgeous card from Kim using the Aim for the Clouds set. It is SO pretty, and colorful, and I LOVE the paper she used. The stitching is FABULOUS, and adds JUST the right touch!!

Her card using one of our most POPULAR sets, Puppy Love..well, it's SO lovely!! The pretty papers, and layout are fabulous!! Great embellishing, too!

And the card that caught my eye uses the Buckets of Love set, along with the BOL Holiday Additions! It makes for SUCH a cute fall card, and I LOVE her bow..YUUUMMY!!

Thanks so much for being a TSG fan, Kim, and enjoy your time in the spotlight!!

Wednesday Trends with Kim O'Connell

Kim here hosting this week's Wednesday's Trends!

When I posted this card  on my blog using the Snowy Days stamp set, I got a few questions about how I got the patterned paper behind the image.

So, I thought I would show you how I do using the "When I Grow Up" stamp set.
I colored the image and chose an oval die to cut out the image.

Using that same die, cut out another oval from the patterned paper you want behind the image.  In this case, I wanted it to look like wall paper.

Now I cut out my image from the foreground upwards.

I know I want to add a base board so I used that same oval die to cut out another oval from white cardstock.
I laid the image over the white oval and marked where I wanted the baseboard to be.

Next I cut the white oval just below my pencil mark.
I adhered that piece onto the oval I cut from the patterned paper.

Then I adhered my image on top of that

I used the MFT Die-namics Circle STAX dies so I then die cut another slightly larger oval onto which I adhered the image panel.

And here's my card all assembled!

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial!

~ Kim
