Stampbook Saturday!

It's Stampbook Saturday! As I was browsing the TSG Gallery on SSC, I came across this awesome Halloween card made by Maki. I love how she was able to create her own designer paper with the Year Round Sentiments set and I would have never thought to use the tree from Act Of Kindness! The Halloween sentiment is from the mini set Holidays Galore and the 2008 was made using numbers from the A-Z and 1,2,3 set.

What is a Stampbook Page? A Stampbook Page is a scrapbook page created using stamps and inspired by a card. Each week I create a new Stampbook Page to give you ideas on how to use your stamps in a new way and hopefully inspire you to catch up on those family photos that you've been meaning to scrapbook ;)

I used a picture of the girls taken last Halloween. They always surprise me with their costumes of choice. Kylie was Little Red Riding Hood, Kayla was a Purple People Eater (don't ask lol!) and Chloe, who I thought for sure would want to be a princess surprised us all when she insisted on being a Knight! Silly girls... that's my life for ya lol!
I hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

Dollar Find Friday- Tooth Fairy Tooth Holder

You still have a couple of more days to play in this week's TSG Challenge! Not only is there a $5 TSG Gift certificate available, but you could also become our featured challenge participant for the Trendsetting Spotlight!

Happy Friday everyone, the weekend is just about here! Today is my turn to host the Dollar Find Friday project and I am going to show you how to make a tooth holder for the tooth fairy to visit ;)

My oldest has had a loose tooth for quite awhile now so I thought we should have a special place ready for it when it finally decides to fall out.
Supplies:
Satin container ($.49 on clearance at Michael's!)
Very Vanilla Cardstock
Satin (I used some blanket binding because that is all I had)
Dimensionals (duh! ;)
Copic Markers
Red line tape
VersaMark
Momento Tuxedo Black
SU Heat and Stick embossing powder
Fine glitter
Nestabilities
Quickie glue pen
Stardust Gelly Roll Pen
Step 1: I used a circle Nestability (that was just small enough to fit inside my container) and embossed a piece of Vanilla cardstock. I then took a compass and drew another circle exactly one inch bigger and made slits from the bigger circle to the smaller.
Step 2: I covered the circle with satin (please excuse the fold line)
Step 3: I folded the cut areas in so that I could place this into the bottom of my container. This makes a great 'shelf' for my tooth pocket to sit on.
Step 4: Create the decorative elements for the container.
I stamped the larger tooth on some scrap Vanilla cardstock, inked with Versamark, embossed with Heat & Stick then covered with fine clear glitter. ( After all, should all teeth be nice and sparkly?? :) When they were set, I cut them out.
I colored the fairy with copic markers, added Stardust Gelly Roll pen to the inside of the wings for shimmer then used my Quickie glue pen on the outside of the wings and covered with glitter.
I used the same colors of Copic markers that I used on the fairy so that I could make some matching embellishments. I colored on each side of a scrap piece of Vanilla cardstock, inked with Versamark, embossed with Heat & Stick and covered in glitter. I then used my hole punch to punch out these small circles which were the exact same size as the dimensionals I was using! Coincidence? I think not.....
I adhered all embellishment images to the satin container using dimensionals. Here is the finished outside. I wish you could see all of the pretty sparkle better!!
Finished side
Finished inside. I created a small simple satin pocket to go inside the container to hold the actual tooth.
Close up of the inside. The scallop behind the sentiment layer was cut out of Vanilla cardstock and then each of the little scallops was colored with Copic markers to match the rest of the container.
I hope that you all enjoyed this fun little project! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Trendsetting Spotlight- Belinda Chang Langner

Each Thursday I will be featuring a card made by someone who has participated in the previous week's TSG Challenge. Would you like to be in the Trendsetting Spotlight?? Join in the fun by participating in our weekly challenges posted every Monday :)

This week the spotlight is on Belinda! She caught my eye right away with this gorgeous card made for the TSG Birthday Card challenge. I absolutely love the colors pink and green together and the layout she used is just amazing. I am such a perfectionist when it comes to stamping that sometimes I have a hard time remembering that you don't always have to stamp your image right in the middle of your paper. The way she off set the tree from Branching Out really makes it stand out and yet ties everything together as well. Her beautiful ribbon bow with a button center is the perfect accent to this gorgeous card.
Thank you Belinda for participating in this challenge and being an inspiration! Enjoy your time in the Trendsetting Spotlight :)

Wednesday Trends- Dimension

Today is the start of a brand new feature called Wednesday Trends. Every Wednesday our Trendsetter of the week will feature a favorite trend. This week is my turn and any of you that have been following my blog for any length of time will probably already know what my favorite is ;) Dimensionals! They come in all shapes and sizes and can really bring life to any project.

I made a card using images from the new TSG set Fairy Good Day to demonstrate this trend. This whimsical set is perfect for coloring (I used Prismacolor pencils and OMS for this card), cutting out and layering. When I'm doing a project where I am adding dimension to a single stamped image, I prefer to use a couple of different thicknesses.

I started out by creating my card base and main panel (grass image is from the set Slow and Steady). I stamped my mushroom village onto white card stock twice and colored it in. I cut out one of the mushroom villages out in it's entirety. I then decided which images I wanted to be raised and cut those out of the second image. I adhered the first mushroom village to the main panel with some thin dimensionals and on top of that added the second layer of dimension (the larger mushroom on the far right and the tiny mushroom on the top left. Next I used thicker dimensionals for the "top" layer which are the two mushrooms with the larger white spots. The cute little fairies were also added to the card base with dimensionals to make them look like they were flying :) I created the sun by cutting out paper using circle nesties, sponged color to the outside edges and you guessed it- more dimensionals lol!

The mushroom village is easy to try this trend out on because you can pretty much tell which images should be raised above the others.
Close up of the card front-
Side view (funny how this looks more like a lego house than it does a card lol!)-
And I always like to finish off my card by decorating it to match the front. For something a little different, I used a square layer instead of rectangle like the rest of the card.
I hope that you enjoyed out first installment of Wednesday Trends! If you have something you would like to see featured here please email me at Jessica@thereshegoesclearstamps.com !
