Trendsetting Spotlight on Heather!

Hey everyone!  There were amazing entries for Karen's fabric challenge! Thank you so much for participating everyone!  It was so had to narrow down the entries, but this week's spotlight is definitely shining on .....Heather who had 3 amazing entries!

My name is Heather Santos. I am a fairly new blogging and card-making having made my first post in February 2011. You may see me around blogland as kurlygirl. I have been crafting in some form or other most of my life. I love this card-making and paper crafting so much! It allows me to get from start to finish on a project in a fairly short amount of time. It also allows me to be creative and network with all the other card-makers out there. There is so much talent out there and I know I have a very long way to go in improving. I love chatting with people and learning from them. It amazes me how this community covers so many countries and cultures but we still have so much in common.  I live in the US among the cornfields of the Midwest. I am married to my best friend and have 2 teenage children and 3 dogs. In addition to my crafting obsession, I also love reading, coffee and spending time with family and friends.
Here are her entries and I must say, they are all fabulous! That diaper fold pouch is AWESOME! Perhaps we'll see her break out a TSG stamp set? :D You can find more of Heather's fabulous artwork on her blog, Kurly-Q.

Wednesday Trends - Hand Stitching

Hi Everyone!  It's me Christine and I have a fun little card to show you that showcases the use of twine and hand stitching on your creations, really simple and sweet.

I started with my stamped image from the adorable set Under the Weather, and then added some pierced holes that were the size I wanted my stitches to be.

As you can see I had to have a larger needle with a big enough eye to hold the twine.  To stitch knot one end of the twine and then thread in and out through the holes.

And here's the final creation.  The twine stitching adds a sweet home-spun detail, and I tied it into the buttons as well.

Thanks for joining me today, and I hope you can experiment with some twin and stitching too!

Trendsetter Tuesday - Christine!

Hey everyone! Corinna here, ready to introduce you to today's amazing trendsetter.....Christine Okken from Christine Creations!
Christine joined TSG first as a guest designer last fall, and then as a new Trendsetter in March.  I LOVE her new hair cut!!
She is an amazing artist and beautiful person!  Here are a few of her recent creations I spied over on her blog:
I love this card with so many details! Christine curved the sentiment from Aim for the Clouds and colored the circle image magnificently with her Copics.  LOVE!
This adorable card uses the new Make a Splash stamp set.  With mermaids, underwater creatures, splashes and sentiments galore, this is a great stamp set!  I love the DP and Christine's coloring to make her mermaid more of a lobster-maiden. :D
And last but not least, my FAVORITE card that Christine has ever made using TSG stamps!  She used the Blossom by Blossom stamp set and colored using greys with a hint of pink.  SWOON!! I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this card.

She is just an amazing artist, isn't she?!  Be sure to stop by Christine's blog this week to see all of her amazing creations and give her a little love.

Stampbook Saturday with Tobi

Hi there! I needed a kick in the butt to get some layouts done and the Stampbook challenge was the perfect inspiration...

What is a Stampbook Page? A stampbook page is a scrapbook page created using stamps and inspired by a card. Each week we create a new stampbook page to give you ideas on how to use your stamps in a new way and hopefully inspire you to catch up on those family photos you've been meaning to scrapbook.

I used this card I made a few weeks ago as my inspiration.. I love to make custom backgrounds with my stamps so why not do the same with a scrapbook page?

I used a beautiful new TSG set called Hibiscus, and placed three of the images on a clear block. I used white pigment ink and just started stamping away!

When you're doing this technique, make sure you rotate the block about a 1/4 turn every time you stamp so the pattern appears random.. When you're happy with your background, go ahead and build your layout!

Thanks for joining me today, and I hope you give this a try! I especially love white ink on kraft, it looks great in real life!

Dollar Find Friday with Karen

Happy Friday everyone! Join us right here at the TSG Forum for our weekly Friday Night Chat!!
Everyone is welcome and we love to meet new people :)

Hi everyone!  It's been so much fun creating little things for you while I was Trendsetter of the Week and I hope you enjoyed my projects as well.  I'm finishing off my week with Dollar Find Friday and I think you'll like this one as much as I did!  My dollar find comes from my favorite dollar shopping store - Target.  You know, the Target dollar spot?  Yep.  My kids had fun shopping there with me too!
I found this tin bank canister and I'm all about altering tins, so I grabbed it and threw it in my cart (along with Pop Rocks, Alien Goo, a squishy ball, and some plastic bowls - got to love that $ Spot!)

I covered the tin in some old SU! paper and then added some accents and elements from Out of This World.
I started by stamping the moon 3 times in Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic Markers.  I cut each moon out and glued it to the canister and then added more images from the same set - the space man, the alien, and the space ship.
The planets and stars border I added to the rim of the lid is also a stamp that I colored with Copics.  Such a sweet bank for a little boy and next time we go to the $ Spot, my son can pay for MY goodies.  haha!

Have a fantastic Friday and thanks for stopping by -
Karen

recipe -
stamps: out of this world
