Wednesday Trends - Paper Piercing!!

Hi everyone! Happy Wednesday! This is Jodi here with you today and I get to show you one of my personal favorite trends, Paper Piercing!!

Now, those of you that "know" me, know it is SUPER hard for me to make a card and NOT paper pierce on it!! I just think that paper piercing, whether it is on every layer or just on a focal layer, really adds alot of dimension and interest to a card.

For my card, which is also for yesterday's Color Challenge on SCS, CC240, and for sketch challenge MTSC43, I used one of my ALL time favorite There She Goes sets, Bloom!!

I stamped my focal image in Memento Tuxedo Black onto Choice Buttercream cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers. I sponged the Buttercream and Apricot layers with Apricot Appeal ink and then Close to Cocoa Ink for a warm look.

This is a picture of my finished card, but I thought I would share how and when I add piercing to my card!

In this picture, you can see that I create each of my layers and focal image, and I adhere the layers together for each panel.
After I have my sections glued together, I then add my piercing. I find that you get a MUCH cleaner pierce, and less of a wobbly line, when you pierce with two to three pieces of cardstock adhered together. When you try and pierce a single piece of cardstock or patterned paper, you can rip or crease the paper. Too many layers and you can ruin your piercing template!!
Here is a picture of all of the tools in my personal piercing arsenal (giggle!!).
On almost every card I create, I use the paper piercing template, mat and tool from SU!. I also use the Ornare piercing template when I want a more elegant look. The Pierceabilities line from Spellbinders are also right up my alley! I recently started using a really fun template from Crafter's Workshop as well for piercing designs!
I hope you enjoyed this little glimpse into my crazy paper piercing world, and for those non-piercers out there, perhaps you will give it a whirl!!
Thanks SO much for stopping by!!! We LOVE to see you here!!!
