Good morning, Friends!
Holly here :) . It's my week to bring you the Dollar Find project. When I think of the DFF, I usually think dollar stores. Then the other day I was waiting in line at Joann's and they have their dollar bins to tempt you while you wait to check out. Good thing, too! I found these cute little bottles of shower/bath gel and hand/body lotions. They also had lip balms, lip glosses and nail files!
Here is what you'll need for this project:
2 matching bottles of gel, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc. (I used gel and lotion)
1 piece of heavy cardstock or chipboard (the backing from a dp pack is great!)
1 piece of acetate
Ink (versafine black onyx used here)
pencil w/eraser
hole punch
scoring blade
sticky tape
cardstock and designer paper to decorate
punches (optional)
Stamps to decorate ( Rejuvenate used here)
Step 1:
Measure your ''product" for size of box needed. I have posted a "Packaging 101" tutorial on my blog to help with figuring out different sized boxes. You can find that HERE. For this box, my chipboard was measured to 9 1/8 x 6 7/8 inches.
Step 2: Score all sides of this piece at 1 3/4 inches, and cut up on each corner tab as shown.
Step 3: Measure and cut designer paper to fit the insides of your box, but do not adhere until you have put your box together. This way you will cover up the folded in pieces.
Step 4: Using a pencil eraser and ink, create a polka dot pattern on the outside of your box.
Step 5: Apply sticky tape to corner tabs and assemble box. Now you can adhere the designer paper pieces to the inside of your finished box.
Step 6: Create a cover for your box using the acetate. You will use the same concept as the box bottom, only decrease the size by 1/8" on each size so that it will fit inside the box.
Step 7: For the belly band, cut a 2" x 10 1/4" piece of chipboard. Since I did mine a little different, you can find detailed instructions on my blog. Basically, you just need it to fit around your box with a small excess to overlap. Decorate as desired. (I am sorry, I took pictures of this, but my camera ate them!)
Step 8: Decorate as desired.
Total time to create this box was 1 hour.
Makes a great gift for those hard to buy for girlfriends!
~~~Don't Forget!! ~~~
Enjoy!
