Stampbook Saturday - Alex

Hello Lovebugs!

Happy New Year!!  I am so thrilled to be hosting the very first edition of Stampbook Saturday for 2011!!

I absolutely love scrapbooking - in fact, it was through scrapbooking that I got my hands on my very first stamp, and the rest is history of course - I fell in love!!  Now, my favorite thing to do is Stampbook! lol..

What is a Stampbook Page? A stampbook page is a scrapbook page created using stamps and inspired by a card. Each week we create a new stampbook page to give you ideas on how to use your stamps in a new way and hopefully inspire you to catch up on those family photos you've been meaning to scrapbook.

My page for this week was totally inspired by this simple yet jaw-dropping gorgeous card created by the lovely Torico:

I just loved the simplicity of her layout, and most of all her fun choice of colors.  When I scrapbook I truly love focusing on the story I want to tell, so I try to keep my pages simple!  If you're a beginning scrapbooker, that's a great way to get started without feeling overwhelmed!

Here is the page I created:

As you can see I basically "scraplifted" her layout and overall color scheme.  I found these gorgeous papers from my October Afternoon stash, and I loved how well they worked for this!  I used the same image Torico used, which is from the new Buckets of Love stamp set.  Of course, I know better than to to even attempt to color my image anything like she did, but I grabbed my trusty Copic Markers and tried my own version :-).  I made my "list" using the sentiment and words from the same stamp set, and just added some distressing all around, as well as the notebook edge punch, to give it the "freshly ripped from my notepad" look!

I loved her twine embellishment, so I HAD to add it to my page, and decided to add a couple of corduroy buttons to finish it all up!  I took this picture of my son Nicholas over the summer when, on a random trip to the mall, he managed to weasel me into the Build-A-Bear factory, despite the fact that now he is "too old, and too cool" for that stuff.  Its not the greatest picture since I took it with my cell phone, but I just love the look of love he has for his new friend!

Little moments like this one are what make me love scrapbooking so much, and the fact that I can include my stamps into my pages makes everything that much more fun!

Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope your New Year is off to a fabulous start!

Hugs!!

Alex
