Some big news and Wednesday Trends!!

As I'm sure most of you know, Faith one of our senior Trendsetters, has set off on a new adventure and starting her own company, Mark's Finest Papers! Faith and I have become great friends since the beginning of TSG and she has been a sounding board for me many times. I value her friendship and appreciate all of the amazing artwork that she has created with There She Goes Stamps. December was Faith's final month as part of the Trendsetters and we wish her all the best!

Since there was an opening on the Senior Trendsetter's team, I have invited one of our Junior Trendsetters to fill the spot. I am excited to announce that Sandra MacLean will now be joining the There She Goes family as a Senior Trendsetter! Her watercoloring is absolutely amazing as are the beautiful cards that she creates and I know that you will love the TSG projects she creates in the future! So make sure you stop by her blog and say hello :)

Now on to Wednesday Trends (brought to you by me!). If you have been a follower of my blog for any length of time, I am sure that it will not be a huge surprise to you when I say ' I LOVE dimensionals!'. Seriously, I'm a little worried that it may becoming an unhealthy obsession with the amount that I have been going through lately. (Which reminds me, does anyone know where I can get itty bitty teeny tiny dimensionals??? I had some a while back that I LOVED and I can't for the life of me find them anywhere! Email me if you know where I can get the goods.) Ahem... back on topic....

Ok, so I love dimensionals. But another thing that I love about stamping is not just 'creating a card' but actually creating a work of art! I find that my very favorite cards are the ones that I spent a ridiculous amount of time on and are usually more of a 3D project. There are so many different styles and templates of cards that you can find online that it almost seems 'boring' to make a typical 4.25"x5.5" card.
For example, you may remember this card that I made with Penguin Love awhile back. I spent pretty much an entire day on this bad boy lol!

The card that I made to share with you today is called a Pop-Up Accordion card. It has been quite awhile since I've made this style of card but I had a great idea for it using the newly released Loads Of Fun set!

The card 'base' measures 4.25"x5.5" (I know it starts out 'boring' but I promise it gets more exciting lol!) with a 5.25x8.25 for the actual card part. I stamped my images onto watercolor paper with Momento Tuxedo Black and water colored with paintbrushes and SU inks. I drew in the base boards which is a great idea that I picked up from Sandra. I just love how that ties everything together so nicely! For the wall plaque, I stamped the frame (from the Home Sweet Home set) then stamped my sentiment before watercoloring and cutting out to add to the image base.
The sentiment I used for the inside of the card cracks me up! As much as I would love to give this card to my husband, I can't because he does just as much of the laundry as I do lol! I love how, with the accordion style fold, I was able to create the feeling of scattered clothes in front of the laundry basket.
Here is a close up of the writing section of my card. I added some stitching with my sewing machine because I thought that it went nicely with the theme of the card.
I hope that you all will spend an entire day on a card at least once in your stamping life. It does the creative soul good :) Have a great day everyone!

  7. These cards ROCK Jessica! I have some teeny dimensionals somewhere - they are an entire sheet of the dimensional material cut into tiny squares - no spaces in between - I can't recall if I got them at Hobby Lobby, A.C. Moore (when I lived near one) or Michaels. I will try to find them and take a picture of them for you later - you can tell me which ones you like and I can get them for you when I see them.
