What is Dollar Find Friday? Every Friday the featured Trendsetter will share a project with you that was created using an item that costs $1 or less. Everyone loves a good bargain...now we will show you some ideas on how to actually use those great finds!
Hi everyone! It's Danielle again with another project... a very colorful one! I love making and altering little boxes and when I saw this plain 4" x 4" paper mache box at the local big box craft store for a $1.00 I had to buy it!
I forgot to take a before picture but I think you can imagine how the original looked. :) Here is the finished decorated box. I was in the mood for more flowers so I stamped one of the images from the Flowers Of Happiness stamp set on white cardstock four times, colored with Copic markers and cut out. I then smooshed them into my VersaMark pad and heat set with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder (I did this twice for each flower). To finish each flower I sewed a button to the middle with jute.

I then decided the box needed even more flowery goodness so I diecut a flower from red felt three times with a Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die. I modified the first flower to overlap two of the petals and then sewed all of the flowers and a couple buttons together with jute.
The sentiment is from the newly released Polka Dot Pals set and the lovely designer paper I used is from My Mind's Eye.

I covered the bottom of the box with more designer paper from My Mind's Eye. I cut the paper to size and then adhered to the box with Perfect Paper Adhesive (similar to Mod Podge). Once dry I sanded off the excess paper and sponged the edges with Tea Dye Distress ink.

Now the question is... could I actually part with this box? Hee hee. I might just have to keep this one! :)
