Dollar Find Friday!

Happy Friday! Gretchen here with a cute little project for you for Dollar Find Friday!

About 8 years ago I took a class through my mom's group at church that was all about organization. One thing I learned was menu planning. Not only did this woman teach us how to menu plan, but also how to grocery shop! I was diligent in my monthly menu planning for quite a few years and then slowly let it slide. Well, in today's economy, and with 4 growing children, every penny in my grocery budget counts so I decided it was time to get back into the menu planning! My family is not at all picky and I love to find new recipes online to add some variety to our monthly menu. When I spotted this little clipboard in the dollar section of my craft store, I knew exactly what to use it for- a recipe card holder! This is what it looked like before I got my hands on it!
It also came with a tiny peg to hold it upright and it also has a hook on the back if you want to hang it on your wall. Even though it was only $1, the silver clip part actually screws off so it's that much easier to decorate! The front was also very smooth so I didn't even have to sand it before I adhered my DP.
To start out, I took off the clip and glued on a layer of riding hood red card stock and then a layer of DP from October Afternoon's Farm Fresh line with my Tombow glue. I sanded the edges a little so they didn't hang over the edge of the clipboard at all. I added a few more layers of card stock and DP and then I stamped my plate cover from the ROFL Taglines set in memento rich cocoa ink and colored it in with my Copics. I also added a bit of sparkle around the rim of the plate cover and used my circle nestabilities to cut it out. I used pop dots on only the bottom half of the circle so that the recipe card can slip underneath the top half and that will help hold it in place if necessary. I decorated the clip with some more DP and a label with the sentiment from the set ROFL Taglines before reattaching it to the clip board. I just love it and it matches my kitchen decor perfectly!

Well, off to menu plan! Thanks for stopping by!
