Stampbook Saturday with Wendy

Hi Everyone, it's Wendy and I'm back with my final post of the week to share my Stampbook Saturday project with you.

I'll admit that this assignment has had me stressed out.  Although I began paper crafting as a scrapbooker, I haven't actually created a scrapbook page in YEARS!!  I've come to grips with the guilt that my children will likely leave home sans beautiful scrapbook albums of their childhood.  ;)  LOL  And instead I've gone with documenting my families life in a way that fits my style and who I am as a person right now....Smashbook!     

I have always been a serious memorabilia hoarder (movie tickets, love notes, etc.) and have drawers full of little things thinking that one day that I'll scrap that.   The reason I love Smashbook is that it gives me the ability to save it all without the pressure I felt to scrapbook.  No layouts to design or pattern papers to match up...it's simple and perfect for how I chose to preserve my families memories and mementos. 

My first page is from a charity event my husband and I went to a few months back where they had an artist doing caricature drawings.  Here I used a few sentiments, a push pin image and date stamp all from the Oh Snap set.  

Next, I've documented a family trip to the Atlanta Zoo over this past Spring Break using stamps from Zoo-pendous and It's a Jungle Out There.  Rather than color the images I've stamped them directly onto my pages in Vintage Photo distressing ink.  I've included the brochure from the zoo, our ticket, pressed pennies and a few photos.

I do have an actual Smashbook brand book but I prefer the one that I created instead. (Shown above)  I used some K& Company papers and chipboard stickers to create the front cover and inside pages.  And since I cannot write in a straight line to save my life, I also printed a faint grid pattern on all of the kraft paper filler pages for those times I want to include some journaling.  I even thought to include a few envelopes here and there throughout for some of those mementos that I'd rather tuck away.

ABC Friday with Wendy

Hi Everyone!!  

Wendy here and I'm back with you today to share my Anything But a Card project.  Besides my crafty stamp and paper addiction, I also have a HUGE recipe/cookbook addiction.  I love reading cookbooks and finding recipes to add to our weekly family menu.  For the longest time I've wanted to combine my two addictions and create my own recipe cards.

Here is my first recipe card using the darling farmers wife from the recently released Poultry in Motion stamp set.  

My recipe card size is 8x6 and fits perfectly into my recipe card binder.  I love this size because it provides lots of room for those more in-depth/longer recipes and embellishing space for those simpler/shorter ones.  And since this is going into a binder, I'll only be using flatter and simpler embellishments to make the cards less bulky.

I thought I'd share a photo of what the pie looks like.  Last weekend we celebrated Independence Day here in the States and every year I make this super easy and delicious semi-homemade apple pie.  My family goes crazy for it and I usually just go ahead a make two so there is no whining about who ate the last piece.  (Which is usually ME after all the kids have gone to bed!!)  LOL

Trendsetting Spotlight-Cassie Trask!

This week's Trendsetting Spotlight has fallen on longtime fan, and FABULOUS supporter of There She Goes, Cassie Trask!! Cassie is constantly playing in our challenges, and participating in our blog hops!!  We adore her comments, and heartfelt support, AND her work!!

Her first card using Make a Splash is SUPER adorable! I am LOVING the emobssing, and how she added the cute little fish and how she inked up the embossed spots to make them stand out. 

Seriously...LOOK AT HER HAIR!! I LOVE how she added the dimension to our girl from Bombdiggity, and what FUN colors!! Absolutely ADORABLE!!

This one with the fun patterns, ribbons, and bright colors is SO eye catching and cute!! I LOVE the Zoo-pendous set, and this fun image is one of my favorites!!

What I love about this GORGEOUS card using the Sweet Pea set, is the fact that it is so different from the other three that I have shown. It's simple elegance is BEAUTIFUL, and I LOVE how she lightly stamped the flowers along the edge and created a soft border.

Wednesday Trends - Creating a Cloud/Sky Background

   Hi, TSG Crafty Peeps!   

It's Wendy here with you and I'm SO excited to be this weeks Trendsetter!!  

Today I'm going to share how I create my cloud backgrounds after coloring a stamped image. Generally after I've colored an image I will "ground" it so that the image doesn't appear to be floating in mid air.   One option is to create a simple grounding shadow...as you can see in the example below using the just released Scent-ational stamp set.

OR....you can create an outdoor scene with a grass and cloud/sky background.  I LOVE creating sky backgrounds...it's such an fun & easy way to bring a stamped image to life!!

For my card sample, I've used a TSG favorite....Puppy Love which is PERFECT for an this technique!

Supplies you will need:

VersaMagic Aspen Mist Chalk Ink

Stippling Dry Brush

Cloud Template OR a scalloped edge punch/die

I've created a video tutorial so that you can see for yourself just how easy it is to do!!

Trendsetting Tuesday- Wendy!!!

When we met Wendy in February at the joint pajama crop between our team, and the team at the Ribbon Carousel, we INSTANTLY fell in love. Beyond being an amazing artist, and having MAD coloring skills, she is funny, sweet, smart, and beautiful!! She's one of those people that you can't help but adore!! After that weekend, we KNEW she NEEDED to be on our team...and she said YES!! 

Wendy is our Trendsetter of the Week, and I'm sure you have seen these cards, but I just HAD to show them off again...seriously, she's SO talented!!!

Her first card from Oh Crop is STUNNING and CUTE all at the same time! Her coloring is unREAL, and LOOK at the cute layout, paper, and ADORABLE bow she made...LOVE!!

This card uses both the Oh Crop AND Poultry in Motion sets...and again, LOOK at that coloring. The scene is TOO adorable, and I LOVE the combination of sentiments! The cute little fence sticking up behind, too....FUN!

Leah from Freeze the Moment has NEVER looked better...look at her HAIR! It's so real!. I love the colors she has used, and look at that paper, again. It's perfectly matched! I just love Wendy's style!

The last card that I wanted to show is from the Poultry in Motion set, again...she is AMAZING with this set, am I right? She even added the oven mitts, and the pie to the farmer's wife, and I am in LOVE with her! One day, I want to take a coloring class from Wendy. Look at the depth she has created on the skirt using markers. It's AMAZING!
